Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the website www.janteloppet.ch (“the Website”, “we”, “us”). The controller is Janteloppet AS, Norway.

INTRODUCTION

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We process personal data responsibly and within the framework of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP, in force since 1 September 2023). As Janteloppet AS is established in the EEA, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to our processing in addition.

We collect personal data for customer registration, for marketing purposes and to give you access to information about our events, such as newsletters and event summaries.

Names, organisations and titles of participants may be shared with event partners. We will not share further personal data with third parties without your consent.

You may object to your information being shared with third parties at any time by emailing notices@janteloppet.com.

Using some of our services (for example registering for an event) requires you to provide personal data. You may browse the website without providing any personal information.

WHAT DO WE USE YOUR DATA FOR?

We process personal data to administer and develop customer relationships, to offer, sell, market and deliver services and products, to understand customer preferences through market research (not resold or distributed without explicit consent), and to carry out direct marketing unless you object.

ON WHAT BASIS DO WE PROCESS YOUR DATA?

Performance of a contract: for registration, ticket purchases and delivering the services around our events.

Compliance with legal obligations: for accounting, tax and other statutory requirements.

Overriding interest: for direct marketing, business development, analysis and protection against misuse. You may object to this processing.

Consent: for collecting dietary preferences, for sharing with third parties beyond what the event requires, and for sending newsletters. You may withdraw your consent at any time.

WHAT DATA WE PROCESS

Full name, company and job details, email address, phone number, nationality, dietary preferences at events (where relevant and consented to), purchase history, billing and payment details, participation in campaigns, competitions and surveys, exercise of data subject rights, and automatically collected data (IP address, operating system, browser type, device ID), together with records of correspondence with our customer service.

We do not collect credit card details. Payments are handled by external, secure payment providers.

COOKIES AND TRACKING

The Website uses cookies and similar technologies to improve the experience, analyse traffic and tailor content.

Under Swiss law (Art. 45c lit. b of the Telecommunications Act), cookies are subject to a duty to inform and a right to object, not to a requirement of prior consent. We therefore inform you here rather than showing a consent banner.

Necessary cookies are required for the website to work. Analytics cookies help us understand how the website is used. Marketing cookies are used to show relevant advertising.

You can object to this processing by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings.

WHERE WE COLLECT DATA FROM

We receive personal data when you register via the website, by phone, email or form, when you make a purchase, when a contact person passes on details of other employees, and from public registers and data providers.

WHO WE SHARE DATA WITH

With event partners within the scope of this policy, with service providers for customer service, market analysis and technical operations, with debt collection agencies for outstanding payments, on lawful order from authorities, and in the event of a merger, sale of company assets or bankruptcy.

We share only the data that is necessary. Our partners are obliged to process personal data in line with this policy and applicable law.

DISCLOSURE ABROAD

Janteloppet AS is established in Norway and your personal data is processed there. Norway is part of the EEA and appears on the Federal Council's list of states with adequate data protection (Annex 1 to the Data Protection Ordinance), so no additional safeguards are required for this disclosure.

Where data is processed by service providers outside the EEA, we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and assess the level of protection in the recipient country.

HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA

We keep customer data until the end of the year of the last recorded activity, plus the statutory retention periods for business records.

Prospect data is kept in marketing systems for at most 24 months after the last contact, unless a customer relationship is established. We will delete it earlier at your request.

YOUR RIGHTS

Under the revFADP and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the following rights:

Right of access: you may find out what data we process about you.

Rectification: you may have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.

Erasure: you may request deletion where the basis for processing no longer applies.

Data release and portability: you may request your data in a common electronic format.

Objection: you may object to processing based on an overriding interest, in particular direct marketing.

Restriction: you may request that processing be restricted in certain circumstances.

Reporting to the supervisory authority: you may report the matter to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, www.edoeb.admin.ch) if you believe we process your data unlawfully.

You may exercise these rights by contacting notices@janteloppet.com.

DATA PROTECTION CONTACT

Questions about how we process your personal data can be sent to notices@janteloppet.com. We answer enquiries within 30 days.

AUTOMATED DECISIONS

We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you based solely on automated processing.

SECURITY

Access to personal data is limited to authorised personnel. Data is transmitted encrypted (HTTPS with TLS). We follow recognised information security standards but cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data security breach posing a high risk to your personality or fundamental rights, we will notify you and the competent supervisory authority.
